BASIC TRAINING PROGRAM CURRICULUM

1. Introduction to Permanent Cosmetics

A. History of tattooing as it applies to permanent cosmetics
B. Overview of the different types of machines and devices available

2. Consultation
A. Client profile -analyze character traits and client selection; client expectations
B. Discussion of overall aspects of permanent cosmetics

3. Medical History/Client Information Form
A. Identify potential problems for permanent cosmetics
B. Determine when physician review is advised
4. Consent Forms - discuss Informed Consents; liability issues

5. Office Set-Up

A. Physical setting - general equipment; floor plan; building codes

6. Sanitation and Sterilization
A. Equipment - discuss acceptable forms of sterilization, i.e., autoclave vs. dry heat
B. Overview of other means of sterilization
C. Disinfectants and antiseptics
D. OSHA and CDC guidelines regarding bloodborne pathogens
E. Technician safety - handwashing, Hepatitis B vaccination; gloves
F. Proper handling of devices, needles and pigments
G. Sanitary measures during procedure set up and clean up

7. Client Preparation
A. Pre-procedure care; preparing the client's skin; ways of marking the skin
B. Anesthetics and physician relationships

8. Color and Pigment Theory
A. Knowledge and use; pigment preparation, mixing; storage

9. Skin Anatomy
A. Composition/layers; healing process of skin and its care
B. Diseases, disorders and conditions, i.e., infection, herpes, moles, warts,
freckles, psoriasis, eczema; reactions of skin to various materials

10. Machine Theory
A. Review machine (device) for technical aspects
B. Machine operation and maintena?nce; use of the machine - speed, pressure, angle and trouble-shooting
C. Evaluate capabilities of machine

11. Needles
A. Appropriate needle selection and applications, i.e., groups, numbers and
configurations
B. How mechanically used in the skin
C. Maintenance, i.e., check for damage; storage and disposal; preparation for
sterilization

12. Photography
A. Rationale
B. Equipment and methods, i.e., clarity and presentation
13. After-Care
A. Client follow-up
B. Forms and instructions to provide

14. Procedure experience: Eyebrows, eyeliner,beauty marks
A. Review issues, discuss facial morphology and variations
B. Work on pigskin or craftfoam
C. Observe procedures
D. Hands-on work

A. Basic business and marketing guidelines

All necessary equipment and supplie“s are available to students during class, and included in the class fee.

However, if students are interested in purchasing their own equipment and supplies to use during class or for future use, reasonably-priced student kits are available for purchase, including a state-of-the-art coil machine and power pack. (Starting at 350.00 - 1,000.00).

Students will also be provided with a list of recommended permanent makeup suppliers. Again, we are not suppliers or solicitors of any particular company or product line, we recommend only "the best" based on experience.
